Two classes down, three more to go!
As part of my April Creative Challenge, I completed Baugasm Series 1: Create Experimental Gradients and Textures on SkillShare. The guy who runs this class has made a poster a day for the last two years for a project he calls Baugasm.
Class Assignment
The class assignment was to create a poster. I made a poster while watching the tutorial, and then made an LP cover later.
Materials Used
- Software: Adobe Illustrator CC & Adobe Photoshop CC
- Fonts: DIN Condensed (poster) & TheMix (LP cover)
My Finished Project
I created a poster with simple shapes in Illustrator. I dug out the gradient mesh tool—one I haven’t touched since sophomore year of design school when they made us create a photorealistic illustration of something using gradient meshes. *shudder*
Once I had shapes and colors I liked, I copied everything Photoshop and did some warping, color editing, and a little filtering.
I used the same techniques for my LP cover, but also included some glitch art that I’ve collected—that is, images of naturally occurring glitches I’ve saved on my computer. I knew they’d come in handy some day.
These were fun to create, and now I’ve got some new (to me) design techniques to add to my repertoire.
