Hey there.
It’s been a while since I’ve checked in — and with good reason. The biggest reason? I got hacked. Because I’m an idiot who used a 6-letter password. Fortunately for you there weren’t any weird spammy posts. But unfortunately for me this happened during the busiest time of my life.
Anywho, everything is fixed now, which is great because I’ve been DYING to write. I’m planning to develop a new theme for my blog and portfolio over the remainder of the summer.
Also, I’m planning to release a lot of previously-scheduled content. I’ll do it once daily so it’s not overwhelming to those of you who subscribe via a RSS. I find it annoying when bloggers release a bunch of back-dated content all at once, so I won’t do that to you. I had started releasing my thesis content bit by bit back in April, but got locked out around that time. I plan to finish publishing that content and write about some new projects, and do some recap posts on bigger life events (hello, wedding!).
So yeah. A LOT has happened since I last published in April.
I defended my thesis.
As Garth Algar. It made sense — I promise! My content ended up being chunked into 10s, so I decided to present my work in top-ten lists. And when I was delirious on a few hours of sleep and tons of coffee, I thought it would be funny to defend as Garth. Short version: I passed, even though my major prof had no clue what I was doing (he had never seen Wayne’s World). I’m working on cutting the video together for this — it’s been low on the priority list.
Worth mentioning: I saw Smashing Pumpkins again.
And this time I got THREE Pumpkins: Billy, Jimmy, and a surprise visit from James. I included a playlist of the show I went to in Chicago. I paid WAY too much for the tickets, but ended up in the third row. I decided the money was worth it since the last time I saw them was for free.
I graduated grad school — and received a teaching award to boot.
Pictured with Oz who won a research award.
That same day I moved from Iowa to Minnesota.
A week later we (finally) got married.
I think Mark is more excited than me! Okay, we are both pretty excited about this.

Then we honeymooned on the East Coast for a couple of weeks.
And … now what?
I’m being a pretend (okay — real for the time being) housewife and have been learning a lot of fun new skills while I’m at it. I’ve got a bunch of projects in the hopper, been looking for a pretty sweet gig in the Twin Cities, and have been enjoying some much-deserved downtime in the meantime.
Thanks for sticking around and hope you’re all having a nice summer.
Ah crap. I need to update my signature since I changed my name! Or do I? I’m still legally “chimes”.
